COMMON CONCERNS WE TREAT

The things people don’t bring up easily.

Pelvic and continence symptoms are common, treatable, and routinely under-discussed. Around 1 in 3 Australian women experience urinary incontinence at some point in life. Genitourinary symptoms of menopause affect more than half of postmenopausal women. None of this needs to be tolerated as “just part of getting older.”

  • Stress incontinence (leaking when laughing, coughing, exercising)
  • Urinary urgency and frequency
  • Prolapse symptoms (heaviness, dragging, bulge)
  • Vaginal dryness and irritation
  • Painful intercourse
  • Pelvic pain
  • Recurrent UTIs
  • Postpartum pelvic floor concerns

HOW WE APPROACH PELVIC HEALTH

GP-led, with the right specialist support.

Doctor consultation — your Fusenite GP takes a thorough history, discusses what’s been changing, and considers what’s likely driving the symptoms (menopause-related, postpartum, prolapse-related, or something else entirely).

Topical treatment for genitourinary symptoms — local therapy can be highly effective for vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and recurrent urinary symptoms. Your doctor will discuss the specific options during consultation.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy referral — first-line for stress incontinence, urgency, and early prolapse symptoms. We refer to local pelvic floor physiotherapists with experience in midlife women’s health.

Specialist referral — when surgical evaluation is warranted (significant prolapse, refractory incontinence), we refer to local urogynaecologists and remain the coordinator across your overall care.

FAQ

Pelvic health questions.

Is this a urology clinic or a women's health service?

Women's primary care with a focus on conditions that overlap menopause, midlife, and post-childbearing pelvic health. We coordinate care via referral to urogynaecologists and pelvic floor physiotherapists when warranted, and handle the GP-level care directly.

Do I need to see a pelvic floor physiotherapist?

Often yes — pelvic floor physiotherapy is first-line for many incontinence and prolapse concerns. We refer to local pelvic floor physios with experience in midlife women's health, and your Fusenite doctor coordinates the medical side alongside the physio plan.

Can topical treatments help vaginal dryness?

Yes. Local topical therapy for genitourinary symptoms is highly effective for vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and recurrent urinary symptoms — and is generally suitable even for women who can't or don't want systemic hormone therapy. Your doctor will discuss the specific options during consultation.

Is pelvic health care included with Fusenite menopause membership?

Yes. Pelvic and continence consultations are included in the AU$129/month menopause membership. For non-members, a single pelvic health consultation is AU$195.

What if I need surgery?

We refer to local urogynaecologists when surgical evaluation is warranted. Your Fusenite doctor remains the coordinator across your overall care during and after the referral.
